biscuit bakers

Bake your own biscuit at the Fries Museum! Have you already seen the fantastic biscuit boards Bert Scholten praises in Seeds of Memory? With these special boards, biscuits used to be pressed into the right shape. Want to give them a try too? Then roll up your sleeves, because in this workshop you will weigh and knead. With a cake board you will press your dough into the shape of your choice. The biscuit will be baked in Café Thús. Afterwards, you will take home your homemade treat to share, or eat it all by yourself.

viewing boxes

Create your own mini-world in a viewing box. Be inspired by the beautiful rooms and scenes in the exhibition Christopher & Kate Bishop and start creating your own work of art. Decorate a viewing box according to your own taste. Use the most beautiful fabrics, papers and markers to decorate your viewing box. At the end of the workshop you will go home with your own little Hindelope dream world.

Make your own flower brooch! Be inspired by Christoffel Bisschop's work The Leekstertak and get to work on your own brooch. In this family workshop, you will work with wood, crepe paper and a pretty pin to create the most beautiful flower brooch. After the workshop, you will walk out of the museum with your creation on your clothes.

designing mounds

What's on your dream mound? Build your own mound during Sunday family day! Get inspired at the Ferhaal fan Fryslân exhibition and then get to work designing your own mound. A church with a few houses? Or a large farm with animals? During the workshop, you are in charge. With various crafting materials, you will bring your best fantasies to life.

We want everyone who wants to, regardless of your personal situation, be able to take part in our activities. For example, do you need a reduced ticket price or are you curious whether an activity also suits your care needs? Then contact us at

Are you deaf or hard of hearing? We will gladly engage an NGT interpreter for you.
If so, please email at least two weeks before the start of the programme.
