The inspiring story of Louwrien Wijers on the big screen! On Saturday 21 February, we will be screening the exclusive preview of the film From Competition to Compassion at the Fries Museum, free of charge. This essay-film focuses on the work and thinking of the artist. As a viewer, you will be taken on a journey through Wijers' rich artistic legacy. The film paints an intimate and contemplative portrait of an artist who has spent her life searching for different ways of living, seeing and thinking. After the 50-minute film, there will be a discussion with Louwrien Wijers and the filmmakers, Petrine Vinje and Carsten Aniksdal. This discussion will be moderated by Titus Nouwens, curator of the exhibition. Both the film and the discussion will be in English.
