On Saturday 18 April at 1.00 pm, we will be screening the new film The Arrow of Time by artist Rory Pilgrim.

This poetic documentary focuses on the life and thought world of Louwrien Wijers, and thus also her connection with Friesland. At the same time, the film ties in with Pilgrim’s recurring themes: coming together, speaking and listening, and striving for social change through the sharing of personal experiences. The film lasts approximately 40 minutes and will be shown in the museum’s theatre.

Following the film, there will be a post-screening discussion with Louwrien Wijers and Rory Pilgrim. This discussion will be moderated by Titus Nouwens, curator of the exhibition. Both the film and the post-screening discussion will be in English.

about louwrien wijers

Louwrien Wijers is a visual artist and writer, but considers herself first and foremost a sculptor. She made her name with ‘mental sculptures’: works of art consisting of language and dialogue. Throughout her career, the artist has spoken with leading artists, scientists and thinkers, including Andy Warhol and the Dalai Lama. Her unconventional and immaterial way of working has secured her a unique yet modest place within the art world. Her first solo museum exhibition, We Live in Language, presents an overview of her oeuvre, including work never before shown. Surrounded by language, Louwrien invites you to be moved by the conversation. Read more.
