These bunches of gold-coloured threads were made by Claudy Jongstra. She is a textile design artist and mostly works with (sometimes felted) wool and silk. Lately she has been commissioned for monumental assignments both in the Netherlands and abroad. One of her larger works can be found in the Fries Museum’s main hall.

Jongstra is fascinated with these materials and natural colours. Being the owner of a herd of 200 sheep and a vegetable dye production facility, the plants for which she grows on a plot of land in the immediate vicinity, she has full control of the entire production process.
