Afra Eisma (1993) creates intimate worlds that explode with colour and energy. Her work includes tufted carpets, ceramics, drawings, paintings and textiles that lead to radiant tactile installations centred on connection and generosity. The Fries Museum presents her first solo museum exhibition from 27 March 2021.
Eisma will transform the rooms into immersive installations. In each room she expresses an emotion that she connects with the stomach, the heart and the mouth. Guides, sometimes in the form of animals, lead the visitor from one room to another. The installations are a meeting of life and art: she literally interweaves life experiences in her work. The exhibition is a reflection on Eisma’s own vulnerability.
