The richness of our collection forms the basis of the Fries Museum. We continue to develop the museum collection so as to preserve and understand Friesland's culture and history, and share it with the public. In this way we can see the types of relationships citizens have with their material cultural heritage. The new Fries Museum sees the roughly 170,000 objects in its collection as a coherent whole. Stories about Friesland and its inhabitants occupy centre stage and are recounted using all and any type of object: artistic, cultural and/or historical.
